Well last night here at work our new server which actively blocks, monitors, and records Instant Messaging went live. And in the process I lost access to AOL IM. Now the sad thing about all this is that we were told over a month ago that we were going to loose this access, and I requested an exemption. Before the exemption was granted I had to take a training class regarding federal regulations on communication of utility information to non-utility parts of the company. I took the class and passed. My boss approved my access and an IT Service request was submitted. The request was approved, but today I find out that the wrong request was submitted and that it must resubmitted. I guess this isn’t all that bad as I will only have to deal with people in IT. It would only be worse if the request had to be made across company business units.
I’m amazed at times that things actually get done, not only around here but anywhere there is a large organisation. To me this is the only proof I need to disprove most large conspiracies. FNORD
